Everything you need to know about file formats, size limits, and best practices for uploading videos to your Perspire.tv channel.

Written by Stephen Sullivan

Getting your videos uploaded successfully and looking great on Perspire.tv starts with using the right file format and following a few best practices. Here is everything you need to know before you hit upload.

Accepted File Formats

Perspire.tv accepts the following video file formats:

  • MP4 (recommended)

  • MOV

  • WebM

  • AVI

MP4 is the recommended format for the best compatibility and upload performance on the platform.

File Size Limit

The maximum file size for a single video upload is 10 GB.

Video Quality Recommendations

Resolution

  • Minimum: 720p (HD)

  • Recommended: 1080p (Full HD) or higher

Higher resolution videos provide a better viewing experience for your audience and reflect better on your channel.

Frame Rate

  • Recommended: 30fps or 60fps

  • Avoid variable frame rates as these can cause playback issues after upload

Aspect Ratio

  • Recommended: 16:9 (widescreen)

  • This is the standard format that displays correctly on all devices

Bitrate

  • Higher bitrate generally means better video quality

  • For 1080p video aim for a bitrate of at least 8 Mbps

Video Encoding Tips

Use H.264 encoding where possible
H.264 is the most widely supported video codec and ensures your video plays smoothly on all devices and browsers. Some newer devices record in H.265/HEVC by default such as newer iPhones. If you are experiencing playback issues after upload consider re-exporting your video in H.264 before uploading.

Export from your editing software correctly
If you edit your videos before uploading export them in MP4 format with H.264 encoding at 1080p for the best results. Most editing software including iMovie, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere, and CapCut offer these export settings.

Cover Image Requirements

Every video should have a cover image. Here are the specs:

  • Recommended size: 16:9 ratio

  • Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC

  • Maximum file size: 10 MB

If you do not upload a cover image you can select one from the Stock Images library available during the upload process. A strong cover image significantly increases the chances of users clicking on your video so invest time in creating one that is eye catching and representative of the workout.

Upload Best Practices

Keep the tab open during upload
Once you start uploading a video keep the Perspire.tv tab open and active in your browser. Closing the tab or switching away from it can interrupt the upload and cause it to fail.

Check your internet connection before uploading
A stable internet connection is essential for a successful upload especially for large files. Run a speed test at https://www.speedtest.net/ before uploading and aim for a minimum upload speed of 10 Mbps for large files.

Upload during off peak hours
If you have a large file or a slower connection uploading during off peak hours such as early morning or late evening can help ensure a smoother upload.

Wait for processing to complete
After your video uploads it will show a Converting status in your Video Library while the platform processes and optimizes it for streaming. Wait for this process to complete before checking how your video looks on your channel. Processing time varies depending on the file size and length of the video.

Fill in all details before uploading
The video upload page lets you fill in your title, description, categories, equipment, price, and availability before or during the upload. Having all your details ready before you start will save you time.

Content Tips for Better Performance

  • Upload full length follow along workouts of 20 to 60 minutes for the best user experience and higher earning potential

  • Short clips of 1 to 5 minutes perform better as free preview content rather than paid workouts

  • Use a descriptive title with relevant keywords to improve discoverability

  • Write a detailed description of up to 1000 characters covering what the workout involves, who it is for, and what equipment is needed

  • Select accurate categories and subcategories so your video appears in the right search results and recommendations
