As a trainer on Perspire.tv you are responsible for ensuring that any music used in your videos and live sessions complies with copyright law. Using copyrighted music without the proper rights or licenses can result in your content being flagged or removed from the platform. Here is what you need to know.
Why Music Copyright Matters
Music is protected by copyright law. When you upload a video or host a live session that includes music you are publicly performing and distributing that music. Unless you have the proper rights or licenses to do so this constitutes copyright infringement regardless of whether you purchased the song or are streaming it from a music service.
What Music Can I Use?
Royalty Free Music
Royalty free music is the safest and most straightforward option for trainers. These tracks are licensed for use in content creation without requiring ongoing royalty payments. There are many royalty free music libraries available including both free and paid options.
Music You Have Licensed
If you have purchased a commercial license for a specific track that permits use in fitness content and online streaming you may use that music in your videos and live sessions. Keep a record of your license in case it is ever needed.
Original Music
If you created the music yourself or have written permission from the creator you are free to use it.
What Music Should I Avoid?
Do not use the following in your videos or live sessions without the appropriate license:
Commercially released songs from major or independent artists
Music streamed from Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, or any other streaming service
Music purchased from iTunes or similar platforms unless a commercial use license is included
Songs from movies, TV shows, or video games
Even if a song is playing in the background of your video it can still be flagged for copyright infringement.
What Happens If I Use Copyrighted Music?
If copyrighted music is detected in your content the following may occur:
Your video may be flagged and reviewed by our team
The video may be removed from your channel
In repeated cases your account may be subject to further action
We want to protect you and your channel so please take music licensing seriously before uploading or going live.
Music Options Coming Soon
We are actively working on adding licensed music options directly within the Perspire.tv platform so trainers can access approved tracks for their workouts without worrying about copyright. Stay tuned for updates on this feature.
