Written by Stephen Sullivan

Every video, live session, and Program you publish on Perspire.tv is indexed by search engines like Google and Bing. That means a well written title and description can help new users discover your content both on the platform and through organic search. Here are the best practices for writing titles and descriptions that perform well.

Why SEO Matters for Your Content

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. When someone searches for a workout on Google or within Perspire.tv the platform and search engines use your title, description, and categories to decide whether your content is relevant to that search.

The better your titles and descriptions the more likely your content is to appear in front of the right audience.

Writing Great Video Titles

Your title is the most important piece of text for SEO. Here are the key principles:

Be specific and descriptive
Vague titles do not perform well in search. Include the workout type, body focus area, duration, and difficulty level where relevant.

Instead of: Full Body Workout
Try: 30 Min Full Body HIIT Workout for Beginners No Equipment Needed

Include keywords users search for
Think about what your target user would type into Google or Perspire when looking for this workout. Common search terms include:

  • Workout type: HIIT, yoga, pilates, strength training, cardio, barre

  • Body focus: full body, upper body, lower body, core, abs, glutes, back

  • Duration: 10 min, 20 min, 30 min, 45 min, 60 min

  • Level: beginner, intermediate, advanced, all levels

  • Equipment: no equipment, dumbbell, resistance band, yoga mat

  • Goal: weight loss, muscle building, flexibility, mobility, stress relief

Keep it under 60 characters when possible
Titles that are too long get cut off in search results. Aim to put the most important keywords at the beginning of the title.

Avoid clickbait
Your title should accurately represent the workout. Misleading titles may get clicks but will hurt your reputation and channel performance over time.

Writing Great Descriptions

Your description gives you up to 1000 characters to tell search engines and users exactly what your workout is about. Use every character wisely.

Lead with the most important information
The first two to three sentences are the most important for SEO. Include your primary keywords early and summarize what the workout involves.

For example: This 30-minute full body HIIT workout is designed for beginners and requires no equipment. You will move through five rounds of cardio and strength intervals targeting your core, legs, and upper body. Perfect for home workouts.

Include relevant keywords naturally
Weave in keywords throughout your description without forcing them. Include variations of your main keywords such as home workout, home HIIT, beginner home fitness, no equipment HIIT.

Describe the workout in detail
Tell users exactly what to expect including:

  • What the workout involves and how it is structured

  • Who it is designed for

  • What equipment is needed

  • Any modifications or variations offered

  • What results or benefits users can expect

Add a call to action
End your description with a call to action encouraging users to subscribe to your channel, check out your other videos, or follow you on social media.

Other SEO Tips for Perspire.tv

Select accurate categories and subcategories
Categories help the platform match your content with users who are searching for that type of workout. Select all categories that genuinely apply to your video.

Choose the right fitness level
Selecting the correct difficulty level ensures your content appears when users filter by fitness level.

Use consistent naming conventions
If you create a series of videos use consistent naming so users and search engines can identify them as a series. For example: 30 Day Core Challenge Day 1, 30 Day Core Challenge Day 2, and so on.

Update older titles and descriptions
If you have older videos with weak titles or descriptions update them. Improving the SEO on existing content can help it rank better over time.

Example: Before and After

Before:
Title: Yoga Class
Description: Join me for yoga today.

After:
Title: 45 Min Morning Yoga Flow for Flexibility and Stress Relief All Levels
Description: Start your morning with this calming 45-minute yoga flow designed for all fitness levels. We will move through a series of sun salutations, hip openers, and restorative poses to improve flexibility, reduce stress, and set a positive tone for your day. No equipment needed, just a yoga mat.
